This autumn MIRC is featuring a number of talks that related to Sustainability, and where our energy comes from is central to that theme. Tonight, we will learn about Wind Power from our very own Birgit Junker.

Birgit is a long time and very active member of Rotary and has held various posts at Malmö International Rotary Club. Those of us who know her well know also about her passion for Wind Turbines. After an Engineering education and a couple of jobs closely related to quality she found herself at Vestas (9 years), Siemens (2 years) and finally E.ON for the last 6 years currently working as a “Blade Specialist”.

Birgit will share with us some of her experiences in the windy business and give us some insights into the underlying technology, some of the challenges but more importantly something about the future potential of this important technology.

Later in the fall programme we are hoping to have a “Part Two” on this subject and also look into other areas of renewable energy. Watch this space.

Guests of members and fellow Rotarians are always warmly welcome at Malmö International Rotary meetings. If you'd like to join us for dinner after the meeting, plan to arrive at the hotel by 17:45 so that we can help you order a discounted meal from the restaurant menu.
