Inside the dark world of female gambling

Dr. Cally Berryman is a counsellor who currently works with clients who have drug, alcohol and gambling and other issues. She has worked in the areas of addiction for over 20 years – as a clinician, counsellor, academic teaching and program development.

Almost 200,000 people in Australia struggle with problem gambling and as more gambling advertising spend is directed at targeting women, female gambling in Australia is on the rise.

The Accidental Gambler written by  Dr. Berryman sheds light on the dark world of female problem gambling and how women often use gambling to deal with grief, trauma and unresolved issues.

As well as opening up the conversation about problem gambling, Cally hopes that the book will assist women with gambling problems to understand that they are not alone and that help is available.
