The meeting started with a beautiful prayer composed by Rob Simpson to harness our thoughts concerning the terrible event last Friday in New Zealand.

President Steve raised a number of issues:

Ambulance Victoria Leaders Mentoring Program (AVLMP).

Ambulance Victoria is seeking  applications from Rotarians across District 9800 to be part of the 2019/20 Ambulance Victoria Leaders Mentoring Program (AVLMP). We need mentors for AV mentees in the metropolitan area based in South Melbourne, Windsor, Reservoir, Doncaster and Blackburn. Greg Vero has been involved with this program in recent times.

The ideal Rotary mentor has played a leadership role in community engagement programs or projects and has current or recent business involvement at a managerial level.  Any interested members were advised that the application questionnaire needs to be completed by Monday, 15 April 2019. If you are interested please speak with Greg.

Kew Bears Seeking Game Day Manager

We have an exciting, fun and engaging opportunity for Rotary to work with the Kew Football Club. Kew FC have enthusiastically embraced the concept of the synergies between our clubs and apart from helping on FORaMEAL nights is skilled willing  and able to help us with our social media promotions.

Kew FC requires reliable volunteers to assist with team manager roles within the club. Their players are usually great at chipping in to the extent that they can, but with a recent growth in the number of teams, they  have struggled to find enough non-playing volunteers to help out during the course of the playing season due to the increasing number of teams. The team manager role requires about a 3 hour game day attendance and  can be rotated between  a couple of Rotarians.

The season is from April 6th to August if the team makes the finals. The role is not stressful and will be overseen by their male and female football coordinators. We already have a couple of members indicate they are keen to be involved. Any other interested member or friend of the Club should contact President Steve at steve.wylie@canterburyrotary.org

Drought Relief Project

An update was provided regarding the progress with the drought relief project. Respite is being arranged for drought affected families and there is optimism that further grant funding may become available from District to enable more tangible support to be provided.

FORaMEAL Video

Val Cuniffee showed  a short video from the recent food packing event at the Multi- District Conference. Please click here to see the video. Members are encouraged to distribute the video. The Club can now offer businesses the chance to book an event where they can promote teamwork and demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility in a way their staff will thoroughly enjoy.  If they wish, we can arrange for small businesses to minimise expenses by sharing their event with another company.

Val urged members to spread the word as the Club is ready to take enquiries and book workshops.
