So You Want to Become a Member of the Rotary Club of Plattsburgh

Many people join Rotary as a means of "paying back" for the professional success they have achieved. They are looking for ways to help others. When you join Rotary, you play a role in helping the club achieve its community and worldwide goals. This is done both through involvement in community projects and financial support. Rotary club membership is a great way to mix with community leaders from all walks of life and to hear outstanding speakers each week. Our club meets at 12:15 p.m. Wednesdays for lunch in the dining hall at the MHAB Life Skills Campus at 14 Dormitory Drive (off Idaho Avenue) on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base. Each week we plan future programs and projects and listen to a speaker discuss some interesting topics. Please come and join us to experience what Rotary is really all about.

The Rotary Club of Plattsburgh sponsors several major events each year to raise funds to support community agencies, projects and international efforts to improve health in Nicaragua. Major events include the Annual Rotary Fishing Classic (first weekend in June), Rotary Bed Races and Roducky Derby (both during the annual Battle of Plattsburgh festivities.)

Rotary Basics

Read Rotary Basics, the annual guide to all things Rotary. In addition to providing a crash course in Rotary history and demystifying RI terms, Rotary Basics is a thorough introduction to RI and Rotary Foundation programs and membership benefits and responsibilities.

Released each August to coincide with Membership and Extension Month, Rotary Basics helps clubs educate new and longtime Rotarians alike. It’s also an excellent recruiting tool.
If you wish to be considered for membership, the Membership Committee requires that a current member of the Rotary Club of Plattsburgh complete a Membership Proposal Form on your behalf and submit it in to the Rotary office. After the Membership Committee and the Board review your proposal form, you and your sponsor will be informed of the status.

Corporate Membership

The Rotary Club of Plattsburgh is pleased to announce a new type of membership that will allow several employees of a company to share membership and add flexibility in meeting
attendance and participation.

Two to four employees of the same organization can join the Rotary Club through a corporation membership designation. The employees can have various positions within the company but at least one must be a corporate executive. At least one member of the company will be in attendance at 70% of the meetings, but all members are welcome at each meeting.

Corporate Membership is designed to reduce the attendance requirement for the designees. This is to acknowledge travel, transfers and other commitments of many professionals.
All members are actively registered with Rotary International, can access all benefits and will receive both the weekly electronic bulletin from the Club and monthly Rotarian Magazine.
