Central Peel Secondary School - United Nations

The Interact Club at Central Peel has 35-40 members in the second year of the club. This year they expanded their horizons and went to an International Conference in Montreal. SSUNS (Secondary Schools’ United Nations Symposium) was a three-day conference, which was run professionally by students from McGill University. They learned from this conference that you don’t have everything spoon-fed, there will be set backs. This was a very good experience and very competitive.

Central Peel qualified as a small delegation and came out with two awards. They won the award in climate change and the Nellie McClung award. There were larger delegations from the States and it is amazing that Central Peel came out with two awards.

Plans for the future include the Appleby Conference and SSUNS Conference again next year. They will also work on marketing the club towards younger members to have a diverse amount of students among the grades. A special thank you to the Rotary Club of Brampton for their sponsorship to go to Montreal.

These Interact Students can be seen as future diplomats and ambassadors who will make a big difference in the World, as they get older.
