A lively crowd joined us at the outstanding Pelican Waters Golf Club to launch our Surf and Turf Classic Charity Golf Day for 2019 on Friday 15 March.  We are proud to be supporting the vital work in our community through Vinnies, The Board Meeting Surf Charity and of course other projects supported by Caloundra Rotary!  Many of our members this morning dressed in the surf and turf theme!

Sponsorship and team entries are now welcome - check our event page for more information, message us or contact Pelican Waters Golf Club.  #golfday #charity #rotarycaloundra

Deb Taylor chaired the meeting and welcomed Mark Skinner from The Board Meeting Surf Charity, David Lang as well as Geoff Hopkins and Paul Warren - President & Secretary of the Mooloolaba Rotary Club visiting to check out our golf day preparations.

Past Governor, Alan Still OAM proposed the International Toast to the Rotary Club of Longreach which is doing great good in the world assisting our farmers.  This information sheet is well worthwhile reading.

Stephen Engstrom who has been a member for almost three years and represents Aussie Caloundra told us about his role making living, buying and investing in paradise more affordable.  Aussie Caloundra is already a sponsor of the 2019 Charity Golf Day.

President Bernie offered a brief report on the Teddy Bears' Picnic held the previous Sunday, and on the district merger - read this update on the merger.

Gordon - who chairs the Golf Day Committee - spoke of the need for volunteers on the day, and introduced another member sponsor - Darryl Laing of The Travel Agent in Caloundra - who encouraged us all to sell raffle tickets now and over the next six months and to sell hard.

Gordon told us that nothing was ever a bother to Rachael Witton when it came to designing the posters and flyers and so presented a bunch of flowers by way of thanks.

Still on the Golf Day preparations, Megyn took to the floor to exhort us to find/nominate sponsors for the day.

She subsequently emailed to everyone this brochure which outlines the Golf Hole Sponsorship, details of the raffle, and the well-deserved charity recipients.

She said:
It's a fantastic opportunity for a sponsor to promote their business over a 6 month period, to support local charities and have a 1-in-18 chance of winning a $500 voucher from Dan Murphy's!I
If you think of potential sponsors, remember to forward Megyn's email to them with the attachment and a personalised message.  Follow-up by phone or in person.  Share on Facebook.

Then Mark Skinner from The Board Meeting Surf Charity told us of some of the people The Board Meeting has helped and how since their introduction to us, thehy have managed to present to a number of other Rotary clubs.
Darryl returned to centre stage to recount some aspects of his visit to Bohol for our fish farming project there and in particular the Rotary Club of Tagbilaran's meeting that he attended with Mark Ward.

Geoff Hopkins, President of the Mooloolaba Rotary Club, was presented with the opportunity to tell us why he was visiting and of the work that the club is doing in the community.

Corporal Ian Belcher informed us that the Sergeant was swanning away in the Kimberley and left him in charge of this relaxed segment of our meeting.

The newly minted Fundraising Committee met after the meeting while others indulged in other discussions over coffee.  BUT first we had a group photo ...
