Good morning all,

It was pleasing to see so many members of our Club at the Sunshine Coast Rotary Clubs University Annual Joint Meeting on Wednesday evening.

Sunshine Coast Rotary Clubs, since donating to the Rotary & University of the Sunshine Coast Community Fund - RUSCCF in 1996-97, have provided the fund with almost $170,000 in funding.  Our Club alone is responsible for in excess of $10,000.  Each year, the donations are used to fund the study of post graduate students, chosen by their superiors, in the form of a Rotary Scholarship

We got to meet the three recipients for this year, each giving a small insight into the academic work they do.

Our Club was in charge of the Raffle, with all proceeds going towards the Fund.  A big thank you to all those who donated prizes and to those who sold the tickets on the night.

The highlight of the night was the Guest Speaker, Jan Becker. Jan and her husband own the Becker Helicopter Business, which many of you would be aware of.  However, Jan has another side to her extremely interesting life.  She is a registered midwife, specialising in neo-natal work.  Her passion was almost tangible as she spoke about her desire to help people less fortunate than herself.

Jan gives her own time to travel to the sub-Sahara several times a year, where she assists and teaches local people the life saving skills of being a neo-natal nurse and the art of midwifery.  Her audio visual presentation, along with her motivational message left the crowd spellbound.  The world needs more people like Jan and we can all learn so much from her.  As Jan said, so many of us are permanently in the "hover" position (helicopter terminology for being in our comfort zone).  If only we could be willing to power out of the standstill and discover the true meaning of our lives.

We will have to see if Jan can spare some of her precious time and address our Club.  It will certainly be worth it.

To those who helped at the Bunnings BBQ on Wednesday, thank you.  Gerry keeps reminding me he won't be around to guide the ship (trailer) for the next two months.  If there are any beckoning understudy's, who have a tow bar, and would love to help a little more with the BBQ, please let Gerry know.

For those of you who couldn't get enough of the Royal Wedding,  I hope you all had a regal evening at Robinson Palace, enjoying the nuptials of the young Royals.
My Locum Pharmacist Travels, this week have taken me to the beautiful community of Pomona.  I've been working for the Live Life Pharmacy Group, who have quite a few Pharmacies in the Noosa area, plus in other tourist areas, including Airlie Beach, Port Douglas, Byron Bay, Yeppoon etc.  For a sneak peek at where I've been, click here.

I hope you're all enjoying our start to winter and the beautiful sunny days. Have a great weekend and I hope to see you soon.
