Straight back from her European jaunt, Megyn was thrust into the chair of our meeting which was to hear from eight of our retired members about 'Is Retirement what I thought it would be?'.
But first Alan proposed an International Toast to the Rotary Club of Berne, Switzerland which is in Rotary District 1990.
President Bernie had some reminders for us:

  • the importance of registering for our meetings at Pelican Waters Golf Club during September - article
  • Teddy Bears' Picnic - lots of volunteers and news of events for the day here
  • Care Garden volunteers to contact Bernie
  • Hand towels to Ann for the Teddy Bears' Picnic - details here
  • Mental Health Week in October - stay tuned
Our fabulous eight (Arnaldo, Chris R, James, Bernie, Judy, Merv, Alan, and Gerry) then kept us amused with tales of their successful retired days and fielded some interesting questions from those contemplating their nirvana.

Megyn reminded us of the Golf Day launch breakfast on 18 September (PLEASE register here) and the need to source sponsors, and Rachael took the opportunity to thank the volunteers who put their hand up to volunteer at the Teddy Bears' Picnic on 18 September. There will be adverts in the Caloundra Weekly this and next week and posters are available for us to place in various shops and businesses.  Keep an eye on the events Facebook page too for breaking news.

Membership Director and President Elect, Chris Rees was pleased at the response he had to his request for volunteers on the new Fundraising Committee and will advise more details shortly.

Sergeant Merv did a marvellous job of presenting members' errant ways in an entertaining, exaggerated way!

Almost forgotten, Iain closed the meeting with three minutes on his fascinating life and career.
