This week we have Sinton or FuRai (his Komu Sou name.)
The Komu Sou were warrior mendicants of the Fuke sect of Buddhism, a method of meditation started to give some of the samurai a Way in the New World of Japan during the pacified Edo period. The lineage is presently hardly known but kept alive by some 3000 players in the world.
Sinton has been studying this Rai - a more open version of SuiZen/Blowing Zen (an instrument that sounds a little like a flute) developed by his master - for the last three years with Tsuchiya Hideyuki who studied for over 20 years with his master Shimizu Kumao to practice Shakuhachi as a mirror for one’s development is the goal of this form of playing.
We look forward to learning more about this music as well as hearing this beautiful music.
Cost: 350.00 Baht for members registered online while all others have to pay 550.00 Baht, inclusive of guests and visiting Rotarians.
