Presentation
In December 1696, de Vlamingh anchored off Rottnest Island, bestowed the name Swan on the river because of the black swans there. Just over 100 years later in 1829, Captain James Stirling founded Perth on the Swan River Colony. Jewish pioneers started with these journeys, and so this is the start of the early Jewish Pioneers of Perth and Western Australia to the present day. Discover surprisingly familiar names of the people who contributed to our Western Australian heritage. Learn the relationship their Jewish heritage has to our modern culture. Join us to hear Michelle Urban uncover our history. |
