I was with great pleasure that we welcomed Jess Karlsson as our guest speaker to our club.
Jess is our district's Director of Public Image & Marketing, and she ran a workshop with us to assist our club in raising the profile of Rotary in our local community and in WA in alignment with the Rotary in WA.
Jess ran us quickly through a power point presentation (click here to view).
She told us that a committee has been formed between the 2x districts in Western Australian to improve the public image in WA.
As a fist action they engaged with past members, internal stakeholders and others to establish what Rotary means to the public, after that they analysed the survey results and came up with a plan.

in short on how we can improve:
- we need to increase social media presence with up to date content
- we need to use consistent messaging
- we need to show younger, more contemporary imagery

we need to overcome the perception that:
- Rotary is mostly for men
- Rotary has a lot of outdated traditions
- Rotary is elitist

we need to promote the brand of Rotary in Western Australia as progressive, professional, inclusive and fun!

The Purpose Statement that was suggested by PP Martin Farr:
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD, YOU ARE AT THE RIGHT PLACE!
