For those who haven’t been out to visit it yet, The Range is open and doing a pretty booming business with the new, state-of-the-art indoor shooting facility. Owners Austin and Leslie Harlan visited with Sunrise Rotary recently to explain just what happens inside the new $3 million building.
Located in the old Garretson cold storage building, just at the base of Garretson Grade, The Range is Austin’s attempt at changing the image of a “shooting range.”
“We focus on safety instruction, education, and proper training,” he explained. “People with firearms need to be able to use them safely.”
The Range staff of 12 provides classes for those who have never held a firearm to the more experienced. As a Class 2 licensed facility, they also provide training and education for area SWAT teams and police departments, as well as manufacture the fire arms for several police departments.
