Incoming PRESIDENT DAVE McFadden received a note from Megan, who works with Imagine Scholar. After a few months of being in the program, the new Imagine Scholar students were asked to tell about their favorite books they've read so far.  Samkelisiwe, the little girl sponsored by Sunrise Rotary, went above and beyond the task, put together a report with her recommendations, and asked that it be sent to us!

Wouldn't it be a great idea if one or two of us gave these short, classic books a read, and wrote a letter back to Samkelisiwe?

Hi! It’s Samkelisiwe from Imagine Scholar. I want to recommend books to you that I think you would be very interested in reading.

The first book is titled The BFG by Roald Dahl. I like this book because it’s full of adventure, but at the same time it leaves the reader with a message tImageo not judge by appearance. What I love about this book is that while reading it, it makes you feel like the things you are reading about are actually happening in real life. I would recommend to people around the world because it’s message isn't meant for only children, but adults too. This book would change a persons life and the way they see things. Why did the author choose to write this book as a children’s book only? What do you think inspired the author to write this book anyway? Do you think that this book will help you in your life? Would you think of recommending this book to someone else besides children?

The second book is titled The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. I chose this book because each chapter seems to have a message of its own, which I find importaImagent. I love this book because it turns impossibilities into possibilities. I would recommend this book to someone across the world because I think that anyone could gain a lot by reading it. It could teach people to not take things for granted and to start paying attention to the world and all of its wonderful experiences. Out of all of the messages in the book which do you think is most important? Do you think that this book should also be recommended to adults? After you have had the chance to read these book I would like to know what you have gained from them, whether you enjoyed them or not and why?

That’s it from me, I hope you enjoy reading these books as much as I did. Thank you for your time.
