It was nice to see so many faces and visitors at the meeting on Friday!  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, Laura Lane McKinnon introduced our speaker for the day - Frank Spears with Rotary Shelter Box.

ShelterBox is a global disaster relief charity that provides immediate emergency shelter and other lifesaving aid to survivors of a disaster or humanitarian crisis.  They offer two options: a ShelterBox and a ShelterKit.  A ShelterBox has lifesaving components which provides a family home.  Every box is tailored to each disaster.  The ShelterKit has essential tools to repair or rebuild.  The ShelterBox Response Team is comprised of civilian volunteers who deploy to the front line of disaster situations and hand-deliver aid to the communities that need it most.  Notable ShelterBox responses include: 2016 Fiji Typhoon Winstone, 2012-present  Syrian Refugee Crisis, 2015 Nepal earthquakes.  ShelterBox USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies on private donations to provide emergency shelter to disaster survivors.
