This is the latest from Ron Taylor, received just minutes before my sending this Bulletin.  If anyone has entered from our Club yet, can you please let me know but I'm wondering if we are actually going to have anyone enter this year?  Let me know ….

Very best wishes to you all for the New Year even though we are already more than 2 weeks onto it.  I hope you have been out riding your bikes especially now the weather has improved making it a more pleasant activity.

We now have just under 5 weeks until our big event on 22 February so I will give you an update on where we are at this stage.

ENTRIES:

Entries have been slower coming through than previously with just 26 received so far and still no relay teams yet.  I have been advised by a few of our riders from the previous events that sadly they are unable to participate this year and that is understandable. However, I know there are still a lot of others who have said they are keen to take part so I encourage you to please get your entries to me as soon as you possibly can. As they come in your names are added to the list of riders on the Hospice Southland website so that gives other people the opportunity to sponsor you through the "Sponsor a Rider" link, so the earlier it gets listed the greater the opportunity for this form of sponsorship.  The application has been made to the various regional transport jurisdictons for our Traffic Management Plan (TMP) based on a maximum of 60 riders in the group at any one time, with each relay team considered as one only.

SPONSORSHIP:

I hope you are all putting a lot of effort into gaining sponsors for your ride to help our charity Hospice Southland as this is the main reason we have this event.  Remember that you only have to ask to receive, given that it is a Rotary organised event for a very good charity in Hospice Southland, one that a lot of people have had personal experience with..

JERSEYS:

Andrew and Kara at Hospice Southland had done a lot of work trying to get sponsors on board to keep the cost of these jerseys for the riders down to a minimum.  Prior to the Christmas holidays it looked like all of these sponsors had been secured, so Kara was expecting to confirm them when she got back to work so that we could order the jerseys through her and then she could order them from the supplier .  However, 4 of these sponsors had not come to the party and given Kara the draft of their advert to put on the jersey and so the deadline to get them ordered and here in time for the event has passed. Sadly there will be no event jerseys this year but hopefully all will be resolved to allow us to have them for next year's event. We are so sorry about this situation especially as a number of you had already expressed interest in purchasing one at the very low cost of $35 each.

MEAL & AUCTION:

I gave you the details about this after match function in my previous message but I forgot to mention that it is a BYO drinks as Hospice Southland does not have a licence to sell alcohol.  We would really appreciate anyone who is able to donate items for the auction and that may be gaining something from a company you work for, or a supplier or from individuals.  Vouchers of any form are also acceptable and appreciated thank you.  I want to make up a list of these items so please let me know those details as soon as you are able to, including a RRP if known.

Please promote the event to your friends and family and use the poster to get it out there in shop windows and notice boards, etc

The information about the lunches at Mossburn is in my previous message below, and most of the other information you require, including the relay teams, is in the preceding messages also below.

I will give you further updates as we approach event day..

As always, if you have any questions please email me or call me on 0272651253.

Kind regards,

Ron Taylor
