Last evening Jaye Howey and myself had the honour to attend Government House to celebrate 25 years of Duffy books in Homes and receive acknowledgment of Eastern Hutt's contribution to such a wonderful cause.

The Governor General spoke of rooms without windows, and this reflected on homes without books.  Another speaker reflected on the way books can allow people their own space to reflect, dream and form their own reflections in a way that TV, the Internet and cellphones cannot.  The Honourable Chris Hipkins reflected on his own son and the pleasures they both have in reading and sharing precious time together.

All presentations were totally inspirational and reflected what a wonderful statement Duffy books in Homes has left in the minds of many.  It is with our support this wonderful facility will continue to grow.  I am sure Duffy Books will continue their celebrations during the year and there will be an opportunity to share at the local schools we support.

Our highly valued member Colin Alford was one of our founding supporters, so to Colin and all those members of Eastern Hutt Rotary who had the foresight to support this wonderful project in the beginning - Thank You!!
