Laurie Henwood passed away on Wednesday 6th of March.
Laurie joined Rotary in the 1978-79 year with President Ray Coles. He was Club Service Director in 1997-98 and was due to become President the following year. Unfortunately his wife, Gay, became terminally ill and Laurie stepped back so he could devote his time to Gay. Laurie was a great story teller and his “one minute” notices were legendary. He helped to organise many hay making events to raise funds for the club. Another important hobby of Laurie’s was harness racing and Laurie delighted in organising evenings at “the Trots” for club members and partners. Laurie resigned from Rotary a few years ago as his health declined. We will miss him.
Laurie’s funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Papakura, Tuesday 12th of March at 11am
