The Allied Health Training activity to be held in Kiribati during May 2020 (dates to be confirmed) will run alongside a surgical team visit who are travelling to Kiribati through the generous support of another donor.  This will be the second allied health training activity to Kiribati following an inaugural visit in May 2019.  The program will be delivered at the Tungaru Central Hospital in Tarawa, Kiribati.

During the program, volunteer physiotherapists/ occupational therapists will work alongside the local physiotherapy team to build their skills, knowledge and confidence around providing rehabilitation treatment to patients including those who have presented with burns injuries, lower and upper limb trauma and other surgical conditions related to reconstructive surgery.

The training will be a combination of presentations and workshops together with some peer-based learning where teams will work alongside local physiotherapists in their clinics treating patients.

The generous funding provided by our district will cover flights, accommodation, ground transport, insurances, training equipment and supplies, together with program coordination, monitoring and evaluation costs.
