Weekly meeting – Tuesday 24/09/2019
Chloe Marshall & Bex Baddeley
Fire Risk Management Officers
Auckland City Fire Area
“How safe is your home?”
Is your home’s fire safety something you have put much thought into? This presentation will provide you with tips and tricks to help keep you and your family safe from fire. Key fire safety topics to be covered include smoke alarms, kitchen fire safety, electrical appliances, speed of fire, and escape plans.
Bex Baddeley has been a member of the NZ Fire Service – now Fire and Emergency NZ – since 2004. Besides being a Station Officer in Kumeu, she is the Senior Fire Risk Management Officer for the Auckland City Area. This involves community education, building fire safety compliance, and fire investigations. She is also chairperson of the region’s Women’s Advisory Network and has an interest in creating a more diverse and inclusive organisation. Prior to this, she was a vet nurse in a mixed large and small animal clinic.
Chloe Marshall grew up in Ohope Beach in the Bay of Plenty and moved to Auckland for university, obtaining a Bachelor of Science. After university she worked for Napier City Council and then the Bay of Plenty Regional Council, where she was involved in the Edgecumbe flood response and recovery. As a Fire Risk Management Officer at Fire and Emergency NZ, she has mainly been involved with compliance and public education, however she was also deployed to Nelson earlier in the year to assist with the Nelson fires.
