Donations for a Cause
Twice this fall we had an opportunity to set up at the Paul Bunyan Mall and offer our Rotary "End Polio Now" masks as a gift for a donation to either the End Polio Now campaign, the Bemidji Area Food Shelf or our School project in Uganda. We were blessed with not only donations, but the opportunity to learn more about each other, too. 
 
Paul Harris Social
Becoming a member of the Paul Harris Society shows a commitment to The Rotary Foundation-the charitable arm of Rotary International This year, Bemidji Sunrise Rotary recognized 6 individuals who received their first, second or third tier of Paul Harris status.  Present: Brian Stefanich, Keith Gora, Wendy Otness, Bruce Campbell and David Knudson. Not pictured: Mike Moen. Dictionary Project
One area of focus for the Bemidji Sunrise Club is literacy. For years we have provided every 3rd grade student in our surrounding community a dictionary to call their own. Typically a few Rotarians go to each school to present the dictionaries, as well as teach the students how to use them. This year our delivery method will be different, but our committment to the kids remains the same. 
 
 
 
27th Annual Rose Sale
Many thanks to the community for supporting our 27th Annual Rotary Rose sale. We appreciate the willingness of Lueken's Village North store to host us for rose pickup! 
 
The funds earned from Rose sales go right back into our Community so support projects by both the Bemidji Sunrise and Bemidji Noon Rotary Clubs. 
 
Helping people with disabilities make their own music
Music has been an important part of leading an ordinary life for students at the Music School for Children With Disabilities in Honor of Paul Harris in Lublin, Poland. Founded by Rotary members, the school serves 20 students with various disabilities, including Down syndrome, autism, and visual impairments. The Rotary Club of Lublin-Centrum-Maria Curie-Sklodowska has provided funding with help from Rotary Foundation Matching Grants and the Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society, which houses the school.
 
After their son Mateusz was born with underdeveloped eyes, Mariusz and Joanna Kania looked for ways to help him be active. When he showed an aptitude for music, they looked for a teacher and were thrilled to find the Paul Harris music school.
