Tomorrow is our last Club Assembly!  We will showcase our achievements and progress we have made during this Rotary year.  Please make an effort to come for this last meeting.  Each chair is preparing a presentation, and as your charter president, I ask you to show your appreciation to the club leaders by attending the meeting for their effort and time for the past one year.
See you all tomorrow at 11:45 am at Far Bar!

Last week, Mr. Hitoshi Ishikawa, VP of Japan Business Association of Southern California, came to speak to us as our last guest speaker.  He is the General Manager of Los Angeles Branch of Mitsubishi Corporation, one of the major Japanese trading companies.  JBA is a trade organization to promote the Japanese companies with membership reaching 500 Japanese subsidiaries, businessmen and women.  He explained the difference between JBA and Nissho the Japanese Chainber; JBA's membership is mostly Japanese expats, while that of Nissho mostly permanent residents from Japan.  JBA's many activities also include running Asahi Gakuen, the Japanese language Saturday school, using the Japanese Ministry of Education approved textbooks, and offering scholarships to American teachers.
Though one of our goals is to bridge between the Nikkei and Shin Issei new Japanese immigrants, Japanese expat community should definitely be included in this effort.  We promised to seek projects JBA and our club can collaborate in the near future for goodwill and better friendships!
