Calling all swimmers......
We are organizing a third "Swim for Polio" at Shortt's Lake on Sunday, August 7th at 10 am.
Two years ago we raised $3000 which, when matched with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation support, amounted to over $13,000 to Rotary International to help in our continued fight against polio. Last year our total raised by the sponsored swimmers was $825. ' Every dollar Rotary commits to polio ... three dollars, thanks to a 2-to-1 match from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation' so $825 became $2475.
This year, swimmers can join the group on August 7th at 10 am or they can do their swim. On Aug 7th, Richard Bowness will take swimmers across the lake and accompany them back. (Meet at Bowness' a little before 10am). You can be on the boat as a spotter if you are not swimming.
It is important to collect addresses from donors if they request a receipt for donations of $20 or more.
All donations go to: (please indicate Polio Swim)
Rotary Club of Truro PO Box 115, Truro, NS B2N 5B6 (Les Mosher is our treasurer)
On line donations can be made through https://www. canadahelps.org/en/charities/ rotary-club-of-truro- charitable-trust/
