Our club was delighted to have Stella’s Circle join us to celebrate our partnership to support our veterans. Our donation of $120,000 will ensure affordable housing and supports for homeless veterans.

The Rotary Club of St. John’s is pleased to announce Captain Patrick Power as the recipient of the 2023 Firefighter of the Year Award.

Captain Power joined the ranks of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department in 1981 and has participated in some of the largest and most notable emergency responses the capital city has seen over the last 40+ years, including the Harvey Road fire and St. Pat’s fire, as well as countless car accidents, drownings and other difficult situations.

The safety and security of the people of St. John’s and surrounding areas is always his number one priority, as he did his best to ensure everyone made it home at the end of the day.

With great pride, Captain Power has also supported new recruits and long-standing firefighters at every opportunity. He acted as a mentor and advisor to countless individuals over the years.

For his long standing and exemplary career as a firefighter with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, we are pleased to present Captain Power with the 2023 Firefighter of the Year Award. Congratulations!

The Paul Harris Fellow is one of the highest honours the Rotary Club of St. John's bestows each year.  The award is presented to those who have given back to their community - be that in our city, our province, our country, or the
world - and embody the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self*

The Rotary Club of St. John's awards the Paul Harris Fellow, or PHF as we like to call it, internally to members of our Club and externally to non-Rotarians.

Those honoured are nominated by a member or members of our Club, selected by the Club Awards and Recognition Committee, and approved by our Board of Director.  As well as the certificate, pin and medallion each recipient will receive, a gift for each of the awards presented was made to the Rotary Foundation. So while we honour those who are receiving the awards, we also extend their efforts to help others, through the good work of the Rotary Foundation.

In 2023, our club recognized Linda Ryan for her tremendous efforts in the community through Pink Days in Bloom and her tireless efforts with the Canadian Cancer Society and Daffodil Place.

Our club also recognized Past President Michelle Yetman for her efforts over the last 6 years in leadership of our board and executive. Thank you for your service to Rotary.

Congratulations to both of our recipients.

Congratulations to Dr. Janice Fitzgerald and Dr. John Haggie who received Paul Harris Fellowships from Newfoundland and Labrador Clubs on May 14, 2021. Rotary Club of St. John’s was delighted to be joined by our sister clubs for the awards ceremony.
