Trina welcomed her guests Philip Beales, his mother Heather Beales and his volunteer trainer Jennifer McGinn.

Philip is a Special Olympian and gold medal winner in the snowshoe 200m race at the recent Canadian Special Olympic Games in Thunder Bay from February 25- 29th.

Jennifer began the presentation  by speaking of the training Philip had to do  in the months before the Games. She was Philip’s volunteer trainer and they met and trained weekly for him to reach the level of fitness required to participate in the Games. Philip had also been nominated for a national award and she proudly announced that he  was the first runner-up for the award. Philip wearing his gold medal spoke of his experiences and successes in Thunder Bay. Jennifer ended the presentation by showing slides of Philip, his mother and team members taken at the Games. Rotary was thanked for the donation of $250 to help Heather travel to Thunder Bay with Philip. Jackie thanked Jennifer and Philip for their excellent presentation and passed on all our congratulations to Philip on his achievement.

The meeting was adjourned at 1.30pm

At the executive meeting last Monday it was decided that:-

 The regular lunch meetings would be cancelled until the covid-19 situation has settled down.

The Rotary Auction would be postponed until probably the Fall
