PRESQUE ISLE The Presque Isle Rotary Club is celebrating several milestones in 2023.  Not only will they be celebrating their 100th Anniversary in April, they are also celebrating the 75th year of the Presque Isle Rotary Auction.  The clubs signature fundraising event has raised millions of dollars since 1948 and has taken on many forms: radio, television, online, in person silent auction, and the most recent Great Big Give Back raffle event that was a response to the global pandemic. The longevity of this event is credited to the overwhelming support received over the last three quarters of a decade from local businesses, organizations and community members.

The club is excited to be in the planning stages for this year’s Great Big Give Back Event and is pleased to announce the proceed recipients for the funds raised by the event. In addition to raising funds for the Presque Isle Rotary Scholarship, the club will be supporting projects in three of the local communities that they serve.

The Presque Isle Rotary Club is gearing up for its 3rd annual Great Big Give Back and is seeking applications for potential proceed recipients. The Great Big Give Back (GBGB) is the re-engineered Presque Isle Rotary Auction, which features a high-valued gift basket raffle and online auction.  Each year, funds raised go to the PI Rotary Scholarship Fund as well as three external non-profit organizations and projects. Selected community Proceed Recipients will each receive up to $3,000 in funds to support their community service efforts.

“When the odds were against us in 2020 to continue the Presque Isle Rotary Club’s long-standing fundraising event with a re-engineered approach, the community stepped up in a big way with their support, generosity, and excitement.  This annual event may be led by our club, but it benefits the entire community and the community voice matters.  Bringing back the application process will be a step towards this unified approach,” says Chantal Pelletier, President of the Presque Isle Rotary Club.

September 21, 2022 – The Rotary Club of Presque Isle, several retail sponsors, community public works departments, Age-Friendly Presque Isle, and the Aroostook Agency on Aging are partnering to provide free five-gallon buckets of sand/salt mix for older adults to prevent slips and falls.  The program coordinators urge older adults to register early to receive one of the sand and salt buckets, which are scheduled to be delivered by Rotarians and other volunteers Thursday afternoon, October 13, 2022.  To register for the SAFE STEPS, sand and salt for seniors project, individuals 60 years or older who live in Presque Isle, Easton, Mapleton, Chapman or Castle Hill, should call the Aroostook Agency on Aging at 207-764-3396 or Ginny Joles at 207-762-8461.
Presque Isle and Mapleton - The Presque Isle Rotary Club, Mapleton Lions Club, and Presque Isle Kiwanis Club are joining forces to present "Spring into Service"—a community service event that includes tree planting, painting, and community clean-up work—on Saturday, May 14, from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. All community members are invited to take part in this event, which includes a free hot dog lunch at Noon at the Sargent Family Community Center and free tree sapling giveaways for kids.

Presque Isle -  As the St. Patrick’s Day basket drawing and auction close draw nears, members of the Presque Isle Rotary Club are reminding community members to buy their Great Big Give Back tickets and place their on-line bids before time runs out. On March 17, 2022, eight lucky winners will each walk away with a gift basket valued at over $1,000, filled with merchandise and gift certificates from local merchants and organizations.  That same evening, bids will close for the Great Big Give Back on-line Rotary Auction with over 40 items valued at more than $15,000.
