Chair- Charlie Scobie shared a Rotary story from 1961. He and his wife Jean were crossing the Atlantic on the Queen Elizabeth where he met a few other Rotarian at their adhoc meetings aboard ship.  Through these meeting contacts, Charlie found himself invited as a guest pastor to give the opening prayer to the Senate in Washington.  It was quite an honour as they rarely used guest pastors.  Charlie found a copy of the itinerary for that day listing his contribution.  He also had a framed certificate of thanks for this honour signed by vice-president Lyndon Johnson.
Guests- Susan and Steve Ridlington, G from Pizza Delight, Kelly Taylor who is a potential new member representing Scotiabank.
Makeups-  Wynn brought in 19 makeups from clubs he visited and helped with their projects while in Florida.  The most specific project was the delivery of dictionaries to grade 3 classes.
Birthdays-  Edna will be celebrating on the 10th although she did have an earlier get together with her daughter in Ottawa.
50-50 Draw-Louise did her best to claim the $255.00.  We can only say “good try” but …
Happy Toonies-  Wayne recognized Dianne’s Rotary team at the Curl for Cancer this past weekend as having raised $880.00, the second most money of all the teams.  Dianne raised $450 making her the highest individual
Dianne thanked her team of Sue, Jamie and Dale.
Wynn shared the curling accomplishments of his granddaughter.  Karlee is the only Junior Girl to have been on 3 Canadian Championship Teams and she has more victories at a Canadian Junior Championship than any other Curler in Canadian History.  Congrats to both of you.
Pat Perry added to the proud grandparent scenario as her granddaughter is now playing AAA hockey.
Edna thanked Bill and Sue F. for their help with her jobs when she went to visit her daughter.
Judith came back from a lovely vacation in the sun in Cuba where she found out there is a Rotary Club.  She is hoping that our club may be able to do a project with this club.  Also, her son will be working in the US this summer.
Marita thanked the helpers who came to her rescue on Games Night.
Next Meeting- This is a social event on Friday at the Commons from 5 to 8 where there will be a shared games night, puzzle playing and an opportunity to bring your games and puzzles to trade with others.  All members of the Commons are invited.
Committee reports- Sue F. reported for Club Services with a reminder to pay your dues for Jan. to June.  Coming in March to all our following meetings at the Commons, Pi By Crow will be providing the breakfast meal.  The cost will be $15.00
Pat Perry reminded us to keep Feb. 27th 6 for 6:30 open for our Paul Harris evening.  We will be honouring 2 Sackville residents plus Club members.  All past honorees please be sure to wear your Paul Harris pin and medallion.  Our new members will learn of this honour and how they may attain it.
Guest Speaker-  Dianne introduced Sarah and Luke Poirier.  Sarah has spent 2 and a half years as president of the Sackville Refugee Response Coalition.  She enlightened us with all the trials, good times and pleasures the group has had welcoming the refugees to our town and spending a year with each one making sure they have settled into life in Canada and Sackville.  We enjoyed a large collection of photos chronicling the events and people involved.
Sorry, there are no pictures as I can't figure out how to get them into this story.
