April will feature two different opportunities for your service pleasure! The first is to work or participate in the Make-A-Wish Georgia's Run for Wishes 5K/10K walk/run at Skidaway Island State Park on April 17. The second opportunity will be helping Bike Walk Savannah with their annual Bike and Pedestrian Counts throughout the month of April.

Read this carefully so you know how to sign up:

  1. Run for Wishes on April 17 @ Skidaway State Park - two ways to serve:
    1. Volunteer to man a water station or trails (to give directions/cheer on runners). Arrival is 6:15 am and finish around 10 am. They need 10 volunteers.
    2. Sign-up to participate in the 5k/10k run/walk. Whether you’re a runner or walker, you’ll experience a beautiful scenery and a challenging course! Best of all, the dollars raised from this event will help grant life-changing wishes in the local community!
There will be no race day registration so register today! They will be capping each race off 200 individuals and every runner will be given a face-covering to start and finish with! Social distancing will be enforced at all times.
  2. Bike Walk Savannah's Bike and Pedestrian Counts - Bicycle and pedestrian counts help BWS, the City of Savannah, Chatham County, and the Coastal Region Metropolitan Planning Organization keep track of the ways people are moving around our region and assist in planning efforts for safer places for people to bike and walk. These counts are 2 hour shifts, taking place all around the city. They are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9 am and 5-7 pm, and then 12-2 pm on Saturdays. The shifts are almost all designed for 1 person to handle them, but if you wanted to bring kids or family members that's totally up to you. The only ones that they need 2 people taking are the counts on the 00 block of E. Broughton St -- there can be a lot of pedestrian traffic there!  Sign up for counts between April 19-30 to get April service credit. Prior to your scheduled shift you will receive an introductory presentation and count sheets. Sign up on BWS's signup here: https://bikewalksavannah.org/get-involved/volunteer/?sheet_id=7

Happy servicing!
