APPLE BLOSSOM TOUR
Saturday August 14, 2021

Enjoy the surprises folded in the majestic Mississippi River Valley and Historic Bluff Country.  Glimpse what the first westbound settlers must have encountered as you wind along the Mississippi River, once designated as the western edge of the United States.

Join us Saturday, August 14, 2021 for one of the following rides of the Eighth Annual Apple Blossom Tour.

The 31 mile, 54 mile and 61 mile tours will have you bicycling along the bluff top overlooking the Mississippi River.  The challenging rolling hills and curving valleys are some of the best bicycling in the state.  This year the rides will start and end at Abnet Field, Near the La Crescent Community Ice Arena.

If you are looking for a challenge, we have added a Century Ride to the ABBT.  The 101 Mile tour will give you everything: A beautiful view along the Mississippi River, Four Climbs through the Bluffs, Winding roads along the Root River, and a cooldown return through scenic roads.

If the challenging bluffs are not for you, the 16 mile ride to the North of La Crescent will be more to your liking.  Also starting at Abnet Field, this route heads north out of town toward Dakota, MN This course is relatively flat and takes bikers along the Mississippi River.

In the mid 1800’s, Minnesota was no place to grow an apple.  It was just too cold.  John S. Harris developed a strain of apple trees that could withstand the harsh winters.  His pioneering efforts brought native apples to Minnesota and helped to make La Crescent the “Apple Capital of Minnesota.”  Come see what all the fuss is about…
