We are an active club! Read more about some of our recent events and service projects.
Adopt-a-Family

We adopted two families who were in need of assistance this holiday season. All gifts were successfully delivered the weekend before Christmas. Thank you to everyone who participated. Katie who helped with deliveries reported that both families were extremely appreciative.

Gift Exchange

Rotarians gathered at Stewart Baxter to gather and sort gifts for our annual Adopt-a-Family. To add to the "spirit of giving," we each brought a nice gift to exchange. Becky recited a clever version of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" to make the gift exchange fun and interactive.

It goes something like this:
'Twas the night RIGHT before Christmas when RIGHT through the house,
Not a creature was LEFT stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung RIGHT by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be RIGHT there.

And so on, and so forth.

Each time the word RIGHT was said, we had to pass our gift to the RIGHT. And then to the LEFT when LEFT was said. It was orchestrated chaos and everyone was pleased with their gift!

Can & Bottle Collection

Members of our club continue to collect cans and bottles from organizations around the area. Proceeds are deposited into our account to use toward projects.

There are a lots of spots left to help pick-up cans and bottles from Pedaler's Fork during January. Available dates and sign-up can be found here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d4aadaa2eabfb6-pick2

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Katie, Mariah, her dad, and Cody volunteered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace on Saturday, December 11 to deliver new beds to three children in the Cedar Rapids area. Just in time for Christmas! The kids were so excited and appreciative to have their own bed.

Highlights include: fitting three beds in Mariah's SUV, Katie failing to read the delivery sheet which resulted in driving all the way across town to the warehouse to grab two safety rails, Katie and Cody following Mariah and her dad all through Cedar Rapids, and seeing the smiles on the children's faces as they climbed into their new bed.
