Speaker: Mugisha Gloire - United We March Forward

Mugisha Gloire is the Founder and Director of United We March Forward (UWMF), a local nonprofit organization in Cedar Rapids. UWMF focuses on community development for immigrants and refugees. Their mission statement is to provide hope through education, encouragement, and empowerment. Mugisha immigrated from Congo at the age of nine and has lived in Cedar Rapids for over 20 years. He felt compelled to be part of the community and help more immigrants and refugees become self-sufficient. In 2019, UWMF served 40 families and they are now serving over 460 families. Mugisha graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a nursing degree. He speaks English and Swahili. He can also understand basic conversations in Kifularo, Kirundi, and French.
