GUEST SPEAKER :

PP Kris Sachdeva introduced Steve Rutledge, member of Whitby Sunrise and President of the Project "Adopt a Village in Laos". Steve is no stranger to most of our members, Oshawa Parkwood has supported this project for several years and we welcome Steve's comments and videos which bring us up to date on the importance and impact of his teams' efforts.

Steve has had another challenging year with much rain during the dry season. This year was the largest project ever requiring the laying of 9.5K of pipe. This was accomplished with the help of the women!! in the village. The pipe connects the reservoir to the filter which then supplies water for a family of eight. At least one family member is required to take a course in hygiene before receiving this filter. The people of these villages are very thankful as they see the impact of clean water - a reduction in infant mortality, improved health for their elders. For more information on this project and how you may help as an individual go to adoptavillageinlaos.wordpress.com

Shawn Kellam thanked Steve for his perseverance and dedication to this project.
