MORE ROTARY INFORMATION:

THANK YOU FOR ZOOM:

To our very own Oshawa-Parkwood Rotarian Eric Guernsey for arranging the Zoom Meeting sharing with Heather McMillan, Executive Director of the Durham Workforce Authority, The Durham Workforce Authority is the acknowledged provider of local workforce information and champion of workforce development initiatives unique to Durham Region. Their Mission is to produce and offer comprehensive Labour Market Information to our stakeholders, to facilitate workforce solutions by engaging community partners and employers and to encourage development and maintenance of a sustainable and dynamic workforce. It was so nice to be able to have a whole hour for our Zoom meeting. We look forward to 2021 with your help. THANK YOU.

OUR REGULAR WEEKLY MEETINGS STILL ON ZOOM AND WILL NOT BE AT THE OSHAWA GOLF CLUB UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

We will let you know when and if we return to the Oshawa Golf Club. As it stands right now, the Oshawa Golf Club is not hosting any outside organizations (such as ourselves) at the present time.

Plan is for all clubs in District to participate!. Plans are underway to team up with all Clubs/Districts within the Great Lakes watershed on April 24, 2021 to clean up the shores of our waterways.  Save the date! President Sue announced our plan to help clean up the Oshawa Creek Valley area as a project for our club. As we get nearer the date, we will decide if it is a “Go”, depending on the COVID-19 restrictions at that time. Details will follow. We are encouraging all Rotary Club members to join the Facebook Group by clicking here.

Contact District Environmental Action Committee (nilam.bedi@gmail.com) for more info. We want to know the weight of the garbage you collect!!

We will be giving away 3 or 4 T-shirts (with the GLWC logo) to every President/Club that is participating in the event!  Others will be able to purchase for $20.  Stay tuned for the central locations where you can pick up your T-shirts in early April.

MAY 12, 2021 ( 8 to 9 PM) -  Online Rotary Foundation Gala Event - "Celebrate our Foundation!"

All Rotarians are Invited

From Rotary International Director Valarie Wafer and Rotary Foundation Trustee Dean Rohrs: We are asking for your help with our Rotary Foundation event on May 12, 2021. Together, we will celebrate what we have achieved and inspire Rotarians to do more. The online Gala event, "Celebrate our Foundation!" will be held Wednesday, May 12, from 8-9 pm ET (5-6 PT). It will be a fast-paced 60-minute variety style show featuring Rotary dignitaries, celebrities, musicians, entertainers and more. Details are at the event website: www.bit.ly/TRF-Gala .

Support of The Rotary Foundation has increased by 6%, but the demand has doubled. In 2020, we did not have enough funds for all the projects that Rotarians asked us to support. In 2021 we will likely run out of funds by the end of May. Those requests for funds come from your clubs, and your members. The ticket price is $110 USD, of which only $10 goes to the event itself. You, the Foundation supporter will get a charitable tax receipt for the $100, along with 100 Paul Harris Recognition points. CLICK HERE to watch a brief video. This is our call to action. Together we will celebrate our Foundation and do even more good in the world. Thank you for your support.

Don’t be left out.

Refunds for those who have already registered – option to donate to TRF!  - For those members who have already paid your registration fees for the previous Conference dates, you are entitled to a full rebate of this registration fee.  There is an option to donate this money to the Rotary Foundation (TRF).  To date, about 50 members who have already registered have not contacted us.  Send a message to Helen Lackey (helenlackeyrotary@gmail.com) letting her know to either issue you a full rebate or donate a portion or the full registration fee to TRF.
