ANNOUNCEMENTS

TUESDAY TALKS – AUGUST 11, 2020:

Janice Coupland and Dave Penney listened to Nicole Beatty the Guest Speaker for the Tuesdays Talks on August 11.   She was speaking on Fund raising during this challenging time with Covid.  Dave Penny made some notes and spoke to our club and what he got out of the meeting.  Jan reached out to Nicole to find out if she or Mark Chapman could email the recorded zoom meeting.  Since then Jan has emailed District 7070 Secretary Charles Bridle and he will be putting the talk on to District Website.  Jan has booked Nicole for our Rotary Club to do a zoom meeting or come out in person on November 24.

Here are some notes from Janice:

District 7070 initiated “Tuesday Talks” August 11.  The theme was “How to stay Relevant in the time of COVID-19”.  The speaker was Nicole Beatty a fundraising executive and consultant.

> As Rotarians we are influences to be effective there must be Trust and perceived Value in what we do.

> to participate we need to use a major tool – digital platforms. The niche narrative is we are together when we are apart – our connection is we are Rotarians. We must move real life into virtual content.

> This situation will not go on forever – we do need contingency plans – revenue may be wiped out so our backup needs to be a part of the club agenda – how do we sustain business continuity is the big issue?

To maintain our “Mission Relevancy”:

> we need to ask questions and be able to pivot – Rotary is rooted in adaptability – this is an emergency.

>we need to adapt to members’ needs; what are our giving priorities and how we can sustain them? Have we educated those who rely on us?

Rotarians are social personalities – being a Rotarian is a lifestyle.

>Real Change needed:

   > what activities are obsolete

   > what activities are paused – how do we keep them going.

   > what are temporary measures – those we are doing now can be revamped. We must reference the Club’s strategic plan and experiment with virtual platforms.  We need to keep Club activity elevated.

> For the Community to win – more demands by people – there has been a surge in giving but it isn’t likely sustainable – we need to try and make sure funding is available, stability is important to those who depend on us.

COVID should shine on Rotary

>what are we doing

> need thoughtful planning

> fundraising is never easy at any time. We are influencers, fundraising is an influencer and must be maintained we need to adjust not abandon our plans.

DG Mark Chipman “Clubs need to get into it”

REMINDER: BINGO AT THE RED BARN RETURNS:

Our first day back is August 29 at 12:30 PM. Things are different under COVID-19. With only 2 bingo sessions a day, we may inly get one bingo per month. Stay tuned. Sandy is looking for volunteers. I believe that we have Lennis, Ted and Sharron, (and Dave A for one hour), We could use one more. Sandy will be the banker. Please let Sandy know as soon as you can.

Here is a note from the Red Barn:

As part of stage 3, upon opening, we will only be permitted 50 customers per session. This restriction, although keeps everyone safer, makes it very difficult to operate our regular bingo schedule.  Please be patient with us in this introductory phase as we anticipate opening with 2 events per day (12:30 pm and 6:45 pm) with new programs that must be geared towards smaller crowds due to the temporary capacity restrictions.  We have applied for a special request to increase the number of patrons permitted in the hall and we shall give you an update as soon as we have one.  Please know that we are working very hard towards opening and offering a product that is acceptable to you until things get back to normal.

PLEASE NOTE: Doors will be opened at 11:30 am for our 12:30 pm session and 5:45 pm for the 6:45 pm session.

The Snack Bar will be closed until further notice but we have installed Vending Machines with Cold and Hot Beverages and Snacks for your convenience.
