World Polio Day 2020 in the Region of Durham
And Rotary invites the world to watch "LIVE” from Durham College's new Global Classroom on October 22

The Rotary Clubs of Oshawa and Oshawa-Parkwood, partnering with Durham College of Applied Arts and Technology are co-hosting our livestream “World Polio Day 2020 in Durham Region” from the new Global Classroom in the new Centre for Collaborative Education at Durham College on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm (Toronto time).
Rotarians and guests from the 10 Rotary Clubs in Durham Region and Rotariansand guests from District 7070 and Rotarians and guests from around the world are ALL INVITED.
The livestream will include brief words of welcome from our members of the Canadian Parliament and from the Ontario Legislature,from the President of Durham College, and from our District 7070 Governor Mark Chipman.
To give you an idea of this, our third year broadcasting from the Global Classroom at Durham College, here is a brief agenda of what we have in store:
Following a brief welcome to our broadcast, we will see a video of the presentations proclaiming October 24 as World Polio Day 2020 made to the 10 Rotary Clubs in Durham Region from the mayors of the 8 cities that make up the Regional Municipality of Durham, just east of Toronto Ontario Canada in District 7070, honouring Rotary for their continuing efforts to eradicate Polio world.
Dr Bob Scott, our immediate past Chair of the Rotary International PolioPlus Committee, will update our livestream audience, with Rotary’s efforts to End Polio Now and our challenge ahead. He will be joined by Ian Riseley, Past President of Rotary International, live from Australia.
We hope to welcome back a student from Ontario Tech University, whose family emigrated to Canada from Pakistan. She will tell us of what it was like growing up in Pakistan and receiving the “two drops” that saved so many lives from polio.
This will be followed by some questions and answers and then we will be livestreaming Rotary International's eighth annual World Polio Day presentation to the world as we celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the founding of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
