Ethan Taylor was our outbound exchange student to Sweden in 2019 / 2020.

Ethan went to Sweden in August 2019 and returned in April 2020 to Canada.

He had 2 host families in Sweden as his exchange was cut short. His best friend was also an exchange student 'Theo' from the US.

He met many people from around the world, make many new friends.

His first two weeks was at a language / cultural camp with other exchange students. That is where he learned most of the history and culture of Sweden, although he visited many museums during his year. He also visited Denmark and Finland where he saw and learned of other culture and heritage sites.

He went on a trip 15 hours north of Stockholm to mountain that they hiked and took cable car up. Also visited a fishing village on an island, other scenic tours of Sweden and a Viking cabin.

Ethan did some baking, at least a cake. Food seemed to be a big part, some he liked and some he didn't..

High school in Sweden has 3 grades or years. Start times varied, some days he wouldn't start classes until 11am and other at 6am. He found the school building and size similar to ENSS.

He found it hard to learn the language because everyone wanted to speak English with him.

R Daniel thanked Ethan for his presentation.
