Tony Morrisey was our Guest Speaker recently. Tony is a Volunteer with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Tony is himself a Prostate Cancer Survivor. His “mission” since volunteering with the Foundation is to encourage men to seek regular monitoring of their prostates. Since 1980 from when statistics have been kept re Prostate Cancer, there has been a 571% increase in diagnosed Prostate Cancer. Daily, 70 men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, but with current treatment options there is a 95.6% chance of survival. Treatment options range from surgery, to radiotherapy, hormonal & drug therapy.

      Tony described his own personal journey with Prostate Cancer, emphasising the positive impact of being supported individually by a Prostate Cancer Nurse. Sadly their numbers are overwhelmingly small for the number of diagnosed patients with cancer. Tony is hopeful that with a more holistic approach to support people with prostate cancer, the quality of life can be enhanced.
