L-R: Program Chairman Bob Rawson and Guest Speaker Peter Weaver.
Peter has had 5 careers, before becoming a local Real Estate Agent and is a passionate advocate for Community Gardens. (Peter was previously President of the local Historical Society for 9 years).
Peter's grandfather was an avid gardener who planted 170 roses. After planting 32 fruit trees (now citrus) he solved a Possum problem using a natural remedy, and ran out of space in his garden. He has now been using the nature strip for 5 years, and uses Coffee grounds from Bezirks CafĂ©, as well as seaweed, to maintain an "Organic Garden."
Peter also indicated that some land at Ford Reserve may also be made available for a Community Garden with garden beds, which could be a great asset for use by families living in apartments or nursing homes. Peter generously indicated he's happy to share knowledge and plants to help others- a local inspiration.
