Program: Vocational Service and other Rotary Organizational Philosophies
The above is taken from part of what a new member of our club swears to, and a tabletop "4-Way Test"

Barbara reported how new members were selected in the early years according to profession/occupation. Each club had only one profession/occupation represented by one person.

Malcom spoke of the Object of Rotary: encourage service. Keywords are acquaintance with community, high ethical standards, values, applications for service, opportunities, fellowship, putting business talents to work for Rotary.

Gerry spoke of the Rotary motto: in 1990 was “do unto others”. Emphasis went to serving the community.

Connie spoke of the Code of Ethics/conduct. 45 industrial codes have been adopted. In Oct 2014 the keywords were integrity, deal fairly, respect, transfer of skills while mentoring, avoid adverse behaviour.

Nancy spoke similarly to Connie, but emphasized quality, honesty in advertising, impartiality.

Trish read about origins of the 4 Way Test and practice of ethically high standards started by Herbert J. Taylor. The 4-Way Test was taken to the moon by Buzz Aldrin.

Barbara closed by encouraging us to take the 4-Way Test to people of influence in the world.
