JOHN'S NEWSLETTER NOTES   The kick-off meeting of the 2022 Mini Golf Committee will be May 31 at 5 pm. The meeting will begin with a short social and then to business. If you are willing to serve on this committee along with myself and several other Rotarians who have already committed, please let me know. We need the help.   This week we will be presenting a Paul Harris pin to Reverend Nanette from Sandalwood Food Pantry.   No meeting on May 30th Memorial Day.

Speaker 5/23/22- Amanda Burgin, BS, President of the Rotary Club of Beaufort   Amanda moved to Beaufort, SC in 2003.  She is a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS in Aeronautical Technology. Amanda’s aviation career started In Cheyenne, WY as a flight instructor in 1994.  After numerous flight hours, she was promoted to cargo pilot, and eventually co-pilot for the Secretary of State of Wyoming.  In 1997 she became a contract pilot for Lockheed-Martin training C-130 Test Pilots to become multi-engine flight instructors.  Her aviation career progressed to the airline industry, where she was a Captain.   Currently, Amanda is a Financial Planner with offices in Atlanta and Beaufort specializing in Business succession and executive retirement planning. She  is the President of the Rotary Club of Beaufort.  2021 Graduate of Leadership South Carolina and 2018 Graduate of Leadership Beaufort.   She is married with two children ages 10 and 14. Farewell to Ed Dowaschinski     Ed is a Charter Member of the Sunset Rotary Club and was its first Club President serving from March 20, 1997 (date of charter) through June 30, 1998.  He is an important part of the club and we hate to see him go. We wish him the best and know he will continue to serve another club in his new home.  Rick Reichel       Rick spoke  to the club on 5/16/22. He is a long-time Islander, and was hired by Charles Fraser in 1973. He has worked for over 30 years with the Melrose Company the developers of Hilton Head Plantation, Indigo Run, and Bloody Point Club on Daufuskie.
