Dr. Todd Wold, Manager of College & Careers CTE & Adult Education, attended our July 14th business meeting to recognize SITD as an Outstanding Industry Partner in 2021-2022.

Chris Seitz and Pam English taught a culinary class at Truckee High School to three sections of the Culinary Program taught by Dana Frank. The objectives were to make, cook and eat banana muffins and to discuss career opportunities for as a chef and food scientist. SITD also presented our Dream It Be It (DIBI) Program last fall to at-risk youth, primarily girls, at Truckee High School. We spent the day with 12 youth from their Wellness Center, exploring careers, techniques for overcoming obstacles, identifying personality traits related to successful career choices. Joyce Brady (former SITD member), Joan Kreamer, Pam English, Marion Thatch and Chris Seitz were the program leaders. We plan to offer the program again next fall.

We also participated in the round table discussions with CTE and local industry leaders to determine how best to mentor high school students toward careers, including the trades. Todd presented the certificate to President, Denise Trani-Morris.
Todd noted that they are interested in volunteers who can speak to their students about their career paths. He said it could be informal. Please reach out to me if you are interested in mentoring or discussing your career with high school students in Truckee.
