It was an honor to have Retired Navy SEAL Robert Monroe (center) owner of Redfin Risk Mitigation present at our La Jolla Sunrise Rotary. Included in this photo are Retired Navy SEAL and club member Bill Wildrick (left) and Retired Navy SEAL and club member Randy Large (right). The Navy’s Sea, Air and Land Forces, commonly known as SEALs, are expertly trained to deliver highly specialized, intensely challenging warfare capabilities that are beyond the means of standard military forces. This includes direct action warfare. Special reconnaissance. Counterterrorism. Foreign internal defense. When there’s nowhere else to turn, Navy SEALs are in their element. Achieving the impossible by way of critical thinking, sheer willpower and absolute dedication to their training, their missions and their fellow Special Operations team members.

Every week Trip Bennet and Oliver W. Jones lead us in our morning song. They put together a lyric sheet just in case we do not know the words and they really brighten up our mornings! Trip strums his guitar while we sing and Oliver provides us with the song’s history through an entertaining and educational short story. This week Trip and Oliver lead us in the song “House of the Rising Sun” in honor of Trip’s mother who recently passed. The La Jolla Sunrise Rotary is fortunate to have Trip and Oliver as members. Click "Read more" to watch the video of our song.

Through Gift of Life, Rotary Clubs worldwide are helping to save the lives of indigent children with congential heart defects by enabling them to receive needed heart surgery. To date, Gift of Life has provided funding for more than 15,000 children and hopes to do the same for at least another 3,000 kids every year. Several clubs in our district have formed the "Gift of Life 5340 Foundation" in order to help sponsor children for heart surgery. One hundred and ten (110) children have already been sponsored by the Foundation.
