I would like to thank my friends Ginger, Susan, and Sylvia for such a wonderful AOY program last Tuesday.  I am so completely humbled and overwhelmed with emotions.  Thank you to all the AOY committee members for your support as well.  I know this event could not have been pulled off without.  Thank you to my husband, Scott Janes, and my boss, Bruce Matous, and all my family members that attended.  It was a huge surprise to see my little brother drive up from San Antonio to tell his story.  And THANK YOU my Altrusa brothers and sisters for this memorable award.  I am so truly honored.
I wanted to take this opportunity to elaborate a little on the stories that were shared at the ceremony.  Many of you refer to me as a technology guru; but as you heard on Tuesday I did not start that way.  I was reluctant to change, I stuck my feet in the mud, and at 21 years old I was drug into the superhighway regardless if I wanted to go or not.  Of course, as you know, it all worked out, but I will give credit to technology and my willingness to learn and use it has made me more efficient in everything I do.  I manage my seven-person household's calendar with it, process payroll for 70 employees in a hour, and update websites in minutes!  My point is, don't be afraid to try new things; it might just get you to where you want to be.

I am thankful for Altrusa as it has given me opportunities to improve my technology skills and made me more efficient.  It is like Mary Pearson always says, it is essential to recruit members and place them where their talents will flourish.  I have been blessed to have been placed in multiple roles in the Temple Club and in District Nine where I have learned so much and made so many new friends.  It is important that each of you BELIEVE that you have talents and they are beneficial to Altrusa and our community.  Do not discount your efforts.  Each of you are a note, and together will create a better community.

Thank you all again so very much!!!
