Nimpa will be sharing their upcoming Summer program and an update on museum happenings past and present!

Nimpa Akana is serving her second term as President of the Bonita Museum & Cultural Center Board of Trustees (BMCC).  She feels that bringing art, cultural, and history is important in a thriving diverse community.  Nimpa was instrumental in bringing world-renown conductor Maestro Jahja Ling to the BMCC. Visitors can view a one-of-kind representation of Ling’s talented hand. One of her favorite roles at the BMCC is serving as Chairperson for the Scholarship Committee because she believes education is very important.  She was born in Honolulu, HI but spent most of years growing up in San Diego, CA.  Nimpa earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Management.  After working in the computer industry for over 10 years, she decided to devote herself to her family, worthwhile causes, and people in need.  She served as a founding board member of the Emilio Nares Foundation, helping children with life-threatening diseases receive safe transportation for treatments.  Nimpa is also currently serving her 8th year on the Chula Vista International Friendship Commission.  When restrictions are lifted, she plans to travel around the world and attend in-person symphonies.  Faith and family are very important to her.  Nimpa's husband is a Captain for FedEx.  Her son is a Harvard University graduate and earning his PhD at Stanford University in Cancer Biology.  One of Nimpa’s favorite quote is “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” — Winston Churchill
