Day of Hope Training:  Just a friendly reminder of our training session on Thursday July 21, 2016 at 7 PM in the auditorium at Sarasota Baptist Church located at 7091 Proctor Rd east of I 75.  If for some reason you cannot attend there is an alternate training session this coming Saturday July 16, 2016 at 9 AM, same location.  If you do not have your T Shirts they will be available for a $5.00 donation. If you have your shirt from last year, by all means use it.  The T Shirts must be worn on the Day of Hope to grant you access to the Church grounds.

Fred Scheerle
Introducing Fred Scheerle

My member to highlight today is Fred Scheerle.  When I emailed Fred and asked him if 3pm on Sunday would be a good time to call him, he asked “why”.  I explained to him that he was going to be my article for the newsletter; he did say “ok, but I might be on the golf course.”  When I contacted him the first time on Sunday, yes he was on the golf course.  I asked him to call me when he could.  When he did call I said “did you win your golf game?”  He told me “I don’t keep score I just practice.”

Fred is originally from New Jersey.  He moved to New Orleans for school, he met Linda and they married in 1986.  In 1990, they moved to Florida and have been here ever since.  Fred joined the Mighty Siesta Key Kiwanis Club in 2002, and he is currently our Treasurer......the man that greets you at the door, takes your money, and sells you 50/50 tickets.
Fred has been with Habitat for Humanity for a total on 20 years.  He started as a volunteer and has been on staff for 8 years.  He helps people get qualified for getting Habitat homes along with overseeing the construction of the homes.
Fred and Linda have two sons, Jeramie who is in the Air Force stationed at Eglin AFB and Joey who is a graduate of Florida State.

When I asked Fred is there something you would like to tell the Club that we may not know he answered “we will be married 30 years in October.  This tells me that family is VERY important to him.  I personally think that is wonderful.
When you see Fred please give him a nice handshake or hug and say thank you for all you do for the Club and Habitat.
