CLUB NEWS
Wednesday - "Career War Stories."  Wednesday four (4) awesome members will share stories from their careers - the good, the bad, the funny.... oh the pathos!   Imagine this - Bill Irish, Cheryl Stock, Steve Stonecipher, and Matt Anderson describing stuff you'd never know about them unless you attend Wednesday's meeting.

Follow-up - Marianna's sudden loss of her son shocked us, especially those who heard Steve speak at our August 3rd meeting.  Marianna's family and friends were with her to provide comfort and support.  Several members were able to attend the memorial service for Steve in Tampa.  Please keep Marianna and Steve in your thoughts and prayers.

The AFFB Food Drive Continues - Marianna has us at 1,600 pounds of food donated to All Faiths since October 1, 2015.  According to the food bank that's 1,330 meals.  Not a shabby result, but there is still time to reach a ton - 2,000 pounds/1,667 meals.  Please bring your donations every Wednesday - we need 400 pounds more.  The end is near.

Wednesday's SLP report will be given by Sam Gallahan, Division 18 Key Club Lieutenant Governor from Pine View.  This a good opportunity to get news and a preview of FL District Key Club activity.  She's a Lieutenant Governor after all, and one of our Key Clubbers.

Easy money can be yours - The Aces Pot is at over five hundred dollars ($500) and we're running our of cards in the deck.  YOU could be the one walking away with the pot Wednesday or you could wonder if you had been at Wednesday's meeting, would you have won the pot.  Did I mention it's $500+?

Don't Just Sit There!  During my July travels I visited a Kiwanis Club's luncheon meeting.  It was an important eye opening experience.

After paying for my meal at the welcome table I found my way to a table and sat with four men and a woman.  The two men next to me introduced themselves, and continued the conversation with the others at the table.  The topic was their golf outings the previous weekend.  When the meeting started the women at my table introduced me to the membership.  After that my table mates transitioned to a discussion of their plans for the coming weekend and their golf plans.

The isolation I felt was crushing.  The speaker was interesting, but not nearly enough to rescue the experience.  When the meeting ended I could not get out of there fast enough.

Here's the take-away:  When we have guests - any guests - family, speakers, friends, prospective members,  TALK TO THEM!  Ask questions, explain how our meeting works, introduce them to other members, involve them in the chatter at your table.  Please do this.
