SPEAKER:

Kat entertained us with audio from Steve's morning show. Seems that Marianna's voice mail greeting has garnered some attention. Her sexy voice has prompted him to drive to Sarasota today to change his mother's voice mail greeting "Hi, I am not here at the moment but I will be back soon, so please leave your name and number and I will call you" .... what fun it was to poke a little humor to our "Queen Marianna".

President Carolyn introduced Steve Ehmke AKA Dave McKay. Dave is the AM DJ for WQYK FM in Tampa Bay.

The Academy of Country Music announced Jan. 29th nominees for the 49th Academy of Country Music Awards and WQYK's own Dave McKay and Veronica have been nominated for Major Market  - Personality of the Year!.  Congrats to Dave and Veronica!

WQYK won Major Market Station of the Year in 2012 and was nominated in the same category in 2013. This is the first time the station has been nominated in the Personality of The Year category so WQYK is very happy with the announcement.

Dave was born in Buffalo, NY and raised in Bemus Point, NY; a lake community with lush farmland. He often visits for holidays and vacations. Right out of high school, Dave knew he wanted to have his own radio show.  One of his teachers recommended him to the local radio station in Jamestown, NY and after applying, he called every day for five weeks until he was hired (Dave said in his presentation he only called once a week).  Dave enjoys the accessibility of WQYK artists; back in April after the ACM Awards he hung out in Las Vegas with Gloriana and to this day keeps in touch.  When asked who he most enjoyed having in the studio he answered "Big and Rich"; "Those two have an interesting dynamic; they are very different, one is very laid back while the other is businesslike." His favorite aspect of working for WQYK is the staff; he considers them all strong individuals who provide tools for him to become better.

Steve entertained us with his road to success; his beginnings at Jamestown to culmination at Tampa Bay, where he has been for the last 17 years.  He led us on his path with many stories in between. His failures as well as successes. His uncanny ability to move from station to station always bettering himself along the way.  Dave also told his story about being a hero during a car accident that left a young man with serious injury issues. All turned out well in the end, however, Dave was a little emotional as he told us his story.  Thanks Dave for being a good Samaritan and a Hero to this young man. We wish Dave continued success in his career.

Dave is also a very generous and kind hearted man. He has contributed to our gala's in many ways. Marianna, you should be VERY proud of your son.

We welcome you back Dave McKay anytime you wish to entertain us.

50/50 Aces drawing: 45 cards/4 aces: Leaf had the winning ticket, however, no Ace. Pot held $143.50!

President Carolyn adjourned the meeting at 1:04PM.
