Dave Riemer, Author/Lecturer

David Riemer helps entrepreneurs, business professionals and artists focus their ideas through the power of narrative. In short, he helps people get their story straight.

Earlier in his career, David was President of the ad agency J. Walter Thompson in San Francisco, held senior marketing roles at two tech start-ups, and was VP of Marketing at Yahoo! in its heyday. Today, he teaches innovation methods and storytelling at Berkeley-Haas Business School and several Bay Area accelerators. David also produces theater and serves as Chair of the Board of the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He holds a BA from Brown University and an MBA from Columbia.

David is the author of the upcoming book Start-Up Story – a “how to” guide to help people improve their ideas and successfully launch them through the power of a narrative. Start-up Story is for anyone looking to solve a problem or create something new: a product, a service, or a new way of getting things done. This includes small business owners, entrepreneurs, product managers, and innovators within companies.

Creation is hard. A myriad of obstacles stand between the creator and the ultimate goal of delivering something new. These obstacles include: picking the right customer, framing the exact problem to be solved, building a better solution than what’s already out there, and inspiring others to get on board. Join us to hear how this is done!
